Biography

Saxophonist and composer Lenny Sendersky leads his life in a constant movement between states, sounds and cultures. He was born in Russia, when his hometown of St. Petersburg was still called Leningrad. At the age of 11, in quite a unique and Jewish way he began playing the saxophone when a saxophone teacher and a father of one of the kids from the synagogue children’s choir where he sang for several years invited him to study the instrument. 

Lately Graduated there Mussorgsky college (by Gennady Goldshtain) .Around the turn of the millennium, he lived and studied in Denmark (by Marc Bernstein USA) and then returned to Russia before finally coming to Israel.

  Lenny Launched his international career living and performing in Denmark. Lately in Israel, he established himself in the jazz scene. Today he is a creative composer, producer and performing artist whose original compositions are performed by international jazz musicians. He composes not only for a jazz combo but also for Pipe Organ and Voice (music Dedication to Jerusalem), Strings Quartet & Symphony Orchestra arrangements of Brubeck / Gershwin and his own compositions.

  His nine CDs were released in different countries featuring various collaborations and reflecting the triad base of his career at the intersection of Europe, America and Israel. In New York, he worked with Randy Brecker and Joe Locke, in Israel he recorded free improvisations with Slava Ganelin (album Hotel Cinema), Gershon Waiserfirer (album Wait until now).  

 With new york’s guitarist, Tony Romano, he played in Russia and in Israel and their quartet recorded two albums in New York (albums Desert Flower & Intersection with Randy Brecker & Joe Locke as guests). Worked and recorded with Carmen Souza & Theo Pascal Lisbon/London (albums Quamundos 2 & interconnectedness). Performed also with Guy Mintus, Anrea Motis ,Ernesto Simpson, Cleve Douglas, Anat Fort, Andrei Kondakov, Arkady Shilkloper, Gregory Rivkin, the Guri Agmon and Amikam Kimelman Big Band and Haifa Big Band .

Lenny has had the chance to perform his original music at venues such as Red Sea Jazz Festival (Israel) with his string quartet music (album Blues Mizrahi)  and classical stages in Russia as Small Philharmonic Hall (St-Petersburg), Ekaterinburg State Philharmonic, Yakutsk Philharmonic.
